Who we are

Barrington Technologies Limited ("Barrington", "we") operates barrington.uk. We are the data controller for personal data collected through this website. Our registered office and company number are available on request and will be published here.

The data we collect

We collect only what you give us and the minimum needed to operate the site:

  • Contact details you submit through our contact form or by email — name, email address, organisation, optional role, the topic you choose and your message.
  • If you use our Opportunity Check and ask us to email you a summary: your email address, which we use only to send that summary. Your answers and result are included in the email to you.
  • If you use our Opportunity Check and ask to discuss your results: your name, email address, organisation, optional role and message, any requirements you select, your answers and the result shown to you.
  • The campaign that brought you to the site, if any (for example the source and campaign name in a link), sent with an enquiry so we can understand which activities lead to useful conversations.
  • If you book an advisory session: your name, email address, the time you choose and anything else you enter in the booking form, plus confirmation of your payment. If you completed the Opportunity Check during your visit, a one-line summary of its result is pre-filled in the booking notes, and you can edit or remove it before booking.
  • Correspondence records when you engage with us.
  • Limited technical data (IP address, browser type, pages visited) through our hosting provider’s logs and the cookieless analytics described in our cookies policy. IP addresses are also used, in a non-reversible hashed form, to limit repeated form submissions.

The Opportunity Check

Your answers to the Opportunity Check stay in your browser while you complete it and are not stored by us. Nothing is sent to us unless you choose to email yourself a summary or ask to discuss your results. Asking for a summary does not add you to a mailing list or mean we will contact you. Please do not include confidential or sensitive information in free-text answers.

Booking and payment

Advisory sessions are booked through Cal.com, which provides the booking calendar and form, and paid for through Stripe, which processes the payment. The details you enter when booking are collected by Cal.com, and your payment details by Stripe. Cal.com and Stripe share the booking and payment information with us so we can arrange and hold the session; we do not receive your full card details. Confirmed bookings, including your name, email address and booking notes, are added to our Google Calendar. Campaign tags from your visit, if any, may be passed to Cal.com with your booking. Cal.com and Stripe also process some data under their own privacy policies, for example Stripe to prevent fraud.

Why we process it

We process personal data to respond to enquiries, to provide and improve our services, to meet legal and accounting obligations, and — where you are a business contact — for legitimate interests in marketing our services to you. We do not sell personal data.

Legal bases

Under UK GDPR our bases are: legitimate interests (responding to business enquiries, improving the site), contract (where processing is needed to engage with you), and legal obligation (records we must keep). Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

Sharing and transfers

We share data only with service providers who support our operations — Vercel (hosting and analytics), Resend (email delivery), Cal.com (scheduling and booking advisory sessions), Stripe (payment for advisory sessions) and Google (Google Calendar, where confirmed bookings are recorded) — under contracts that protect it. Enquiries are not passed automatically to any other company. Where a provider processes data outside the UK, we ensure appropriate safeguards such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.

Retention

We keep enquiry data for as long as needed to handle the enquiry and any follow-up, and business records for the periods required by law. Data no longer needed is deleted.

Your rights

You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

Questions about this policy should be sent to hello@barrington.uk or to Barrington Technologies Limited at its registered office.
